North Somerset Show

The weather this weekend has been just fabulous and I think it’s safe to say that the warmer weather is finally on its way. May bank holiday weekend is a large one here in Bristol with lots of events but by far the largest is the North Somerset Show. Held annually at the North Somerset Showground near Wraxall, it’s a stone’s throw from our Bristol showroom. (Well almost!) Donning shorts and t-shirts, Chris and I took our respective families and spent the whole day wandering round, watching everything from pony club games to tractor pulling. The dogs bathed in the sunshine, the kids took part in archery, shooting and driving mini 4×4 vehicles whilst us adults relaxed and just enjoyed the event. I have to say my boys’ favourite event was watching the tractor pulling. This is truly an event to behold and if you have never seen it before, I thoroughly recommend getting yourself along to a local show. It’s dirty and noisy, just how the boys like it!

Tractor Pulling

Of course, no large agricultural show could be without all the trade stands, food markets and crafty stalls. We spent time slowly strolling through the marquee’s sampling food, looking at all the fabulous retail displays (some of course making use of shelving and Gridwall) whilst taking a small shady break from the heat of the day.

I suspect this year has been one of the largest and best attended shows for a long time and it’s was nice not to have to get the car rescued from knee deep mud and towed out of the field by a tractor that’s normally used for pulling sleds!

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend break and that is was a prosperous day for all retailers.
